SHAH ALAM, March 27 (Bernama) -- A lawyer who was charged with criminal
breach of trust (CBT) involving a cheque of RM RM638,764 last month, was charged
at the Sessions Court here today with another two counts of CBT involving
RM5,071,344.80.
Zainudin Maksom, 40, however, pleaded not guilty to both charges after they
were read to him before Judge Aslam Zainuddin.
The lawyer was alleged to have committed the CBT involving RM2,223.075.40
and RM2,848,269.40 entrusted to him by Heveaplast Marketing Sdn Bhd at his two
legal firms located in Kajang, namely at No: 40A, Tingkat 1, Jalan Raja Haroun
and at No: 5, Tingkat 1, Jalan Saga, Taman Sri Saga, Sungai Chua, between Nov 3,
2008 and Aug 10, 2009.
He was charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code which provides a maximum
jail term of 20 years, whipping and possible fine upon conviction.
Aslam allowed Zainudin bail of RM250,000 with two sureties and fixed April
20 for remention.

The judge also ordered Zainuddin to surrender his passport to the court and
allowed the lawyer''s application to have the case be heard together with the
other CBT charge he was facing.
Deputy public prosecutor M.Puveneswaran appeared for the prosecution, while
Zainuddin was represented by lawyers Jaspal Singh Mann and T.Santhakumari.
On Feb 27, Zainuddin also claimed trial to a CBT charge involving a cheque
of RM638,764.
